College Academic Council (CAC)

                     College Academic Council (CAC) fosters a positive working relationship between administration, students, and faculty in order to help students manage and enhance their academic lives. CAC interacts with College faculty and administration regarding a wide variety of issues, representing the students of College, seeking their opinion on academic issues, and acting in their name. College Council is a statutory body to advice and to assist the Principal in all academic and administrative matters. The College council consists of Heads of the Department and two representatives from the outside as academic and administrative experts.

The Council’s main objective is to help ensure a healthy academic atmosphere and enhance the learning experience for the students. It monitors the students’ academic experience and reviews and makes recommendations pertaining to the PG,UG and Diploma Nursing Programes. It constantly looks at the latest changes that are coming up in the field of Nursing  and provides recommendations to reflect these changes in the curriculum to make students academically ready to meet societal demands.

The Council plays an important role in imparting Add on and Value added courses. It organizes course-related workshops to help in making the students familiar with the courses. The Academic Council also arranges sessions to help the students cope with their studies and overcome any problems they may be facing.

The Council plays a vital role in managing communication with the international community and nurturing relations. The communication is in regard with various institutes and aims to develop an ecosystem for mutual learning of culture and lifestyle along with academics. In sum, the Academic Council helps the students to realize their educational aspirations through any means possible.

Vision

  • Arranges remedial sessions for the students in the subjects of their choice
  • Arranges interactive sessions between the faculty members and the students to help the students in choosing their courses.
  • Performs a thorough study of the Add on and Value added courses being offered in nursing programmes
  • Makes recommendations to introduce new courses in developing or new areas in line with the changing trends in the health care industry.
  • Facilitates the Student Exchange Programme (STEP) and acts as a bridge ICON and the collaborating institute.

Activities

  • Facilitates the maintenance of academic discipline within the student community, to ensure that a proper learning environment may thrive
  • Ensures that students’ wishes are being communicated to and acted upon by the Program Office
  • Facilitates communication between the student community and the faculty
  • Helps ensure that the academic program is consistent with the institute’s mission and is in line with industry requirements
  • Helps inculcate a culture of research in the student community

Standard Operating Procedure

  • The Council secretary issues notices of council meetings in consultation with the Principal. The secretary prepares and keeps the proceedings of the meetings. Two days’ prior notice is given for usual meetings and urgent meetings are convened at short notice.
  • The committee meets at every quarterly of a year. Urgent meeting shall be conducted in case of emergency need.
  • The committee has the authority to approve the Add on/Value added courses as per the need of health care industry, especially the nursing profession.
  • The Secretary will maintain the records of the council activities with high quality standards.
