Indirani College of Nursing follows OSCE / OSPE for teaching and evaluating of practical skills among students and uses this system in examination process for evaluation. During Covid 19 pandemic situations OSCE / OSPE is used for conducting practical examinations of internal assessment and university practical examination.
OSCE / OSPE are used for improving student’s practical skills of the subjects of nursing foundation, medical surgical nursing, child health nursing, mental health nursing, community health nursing, obstetrics and gynaecological nursing.
The complete OSCE / OSPE assess professional behavior, communication, and steps of allotted procedure. It can identify students who are weak in performing practical skills early on in their programme, with a raised awareness of this, and the teachers help the students by conducting extra sessions and can be directed to resources and assistance in practice.
Clinical skill in simulation lab is committed to inculcate evidence based simulation based practice to the nursing students to promote their competence to perform nursing care. The simulation and clinical skill activities that mimic the reality of a clinical environment and are designed to demonstrate procedures, decision –making and critical thinking through the use of devices such as mannequins.

Indirani College of Nursing follows Mentor-Mentee System to enhance student abilities. Mentoring is very important in the success of a nursing student. The mentoring system should be in interactive and target oriented one, involving a rapport between the student(mentee), Faculty (Mentor) and parents (if necessary) to resolve the problems (Mental, Physical, Environmental) faced by the nursing student during the entire course of the study. Mentoring helps the students to successfully complete the course and training. They may also help nursing graduates in their placements and remain attached to their mentees throughout their career.
